What is eBird?

eBird is the world’s largest biodiversity-related community science project. This web site and cell phone app keeps your bird lists while giving back to science! By uploading bird lists and pictures to eBird, it tracks your sightings while making this information publicly available as scientific data.

Where to bird

Anywhere and everywhere! Within reason, of course (no trespassing). We all love finding the perfect birding area - and eBird’s Hot Spot Explorer helps us find these special places where you can see a diverse array of birds.

But what about the areas that aren’t as popular, or not as much of a hot spot? These areas are underrepresented on eBird and may leave some gaps in our data. If you want to help fill those gaps, take a look at the map below and make a trip to one of these not-so-hot spots.
